Energy Assistance Programs
Low-income Energy Assistance Program: Provides low-income households in Ferry, Lincoln, Stevens and Pend Oreille counties with heating assistance one time a year. The federal government limits the amount of funds available to Rural Resources for this program and funding varies each year. We provide assistance to households identified as having the highest needs first and must stop funding requests when funds are depleted. Pre-applications for the program are available October 1.
Project Share: Heating assistance for residents of Ferry, Lincoln and Stevens Counties funded by donations from private citizens and customers of Avista and Inland Power. Project Share pays for oil, wood, electricity, natural gas or other forms of primary heat for households in danger of losing their heat source and who have nowhere else to turn for help.
Neighbors in Need: Assistance for customers of Pend Oreille Public Utility District (PUD) who are in danger of losing their heat and/or electrical service; funded by the PUD and its customers and employees.
Avista Limited Income Rate Assistance Program (LIRAP): To supplement existing funding sources to help meet the needs of low- and fixed-income families and individuals who have no other sources of help. This program serves only Avista customers in Ferry, Lincoln and Stevens Counties.
LIRAP Project Share: Heating assistance to households in danger of losing their heat source.
LIRAP Senior Energy Outreach Program: Assists seniors with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level with the objective of reaching fixed-income seniors who face hardship due to increased energy, medical and prescription costs.
LIRAP Heat Program: Assistance to customers with incomes up to 125 percent of the federal poverty level and supplements the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program.
