Work = Stability and self sufficiency for families A good job is the first step to helping people move from poverty to economic stability. At Rural Resources, we train job seekers to join the workforce and then help them find and keep good jobs. Working hand-in-hand with other partner agencies in the Workforce Development Council, we can link workers with training, resources and support to launch them into full-time living wage jobs through:
Vocational training, where you can learn specific skills in an institutional setting that leads to a degree or a recognized credential Work experience, which provides temporary Employment and Literacy opportunities for individuals with little or no work history while teaching basic skills and creating positive work habits.
Job retention and wage progression, to help people resolve problems they may face in staying employed and assist them in developing skills that can lead to increased earnings in a career field.
Supportive services, which offer resources to eliminate barriers to Employment and Literacy including assistance for clothes, tools, gas, etc.
Youth services, where teens can improve educational achievement, enhance Employment and Literacy skills, gain work experience, and improve their study skills.
The first step to a good job: Basic skills training Our Adult Literacy program provides free, confidential tutoring tailored to individual needs. Trained volunteer tutors work one-on-one and in small groups with adults on basic skills such as reading, writing, math, English as a Second Language, job and GED preparation, computer education and life skills.
