Take a ride with Rural Resources Whether it's a carpool to your job 30 miles away, a lift to a doctor's appointment three miles down the road or a quick trip to the grocery store and home again, Rural Resources offers transportation opportunities to serve residents of our rural community. All services comply with the American’s with Disabilities Act. Service animals and attendants are always welcome. Dial-a-Ride Bus Service: We operate local bus service in Ferry, Pend Oreille and Stevens Counties for individuals living within the service areas. The suggested donation for a one-way trip on these services is 50 cents. Dial-a-ride service requires a reservation. Call 1-800-776-9026 to make a reservation before noon for afternoon service and by 3:00pm the day before for morning service. In Ferry County, dial-a-ride service operates Monday through Friday between Republic and Curlew, in the morning from 8:30-10:30am and in the afternoon from 4:30-7:00pm. Click here for more details. In Stevens County, dial-a-ride service operates Monday through Friday between Kettle Falls and Colville, in the morning from 9:00-11:00am and in the afternoon from 1:30-3:30pm. In Pend Oreille County, dial-a-ride service operates Monday through Thursday between Cusick/Usk/Kalispel Reservation, Newport and Diamond Lake, in the morning and afternoon. Service operates from 8:30-11:00am and 1:30-4:00pm. Click here for more details. In Pend Oreille County, a dial-a-ride service also operates on Fridays between Metaline Falls and Newport. Service arrives in Newport between 9:00am and 9:15 and returns from Newport between 4:15pm and 4:30. This bus meets with the Special Mobility Services bus at Safeway in Newport for those passengers that wish to travel to Spokane. Reservations into Spokane must be made by Monday in order to ensure space available on the Spokane Shuttle. Special Mobility Services charges $3.00 each way for transportation into Spokane. Commuter Routes: Fixed route service operates between Kettle Falls, Colville and Chewelah for morning and late afternoon commuters. The fare for the Commuter Route is 50 cents each way. Bus passes can be purchased at the Rural Resources main office in $20 dollar denominations, good for 40 trips. Transfers occur in Colville for passengers that need to travel between Kettle Falls and Chewelah. Click here for the current schedule. Seniors: For seniors, volunteer drivers and mini-buses offer weekly transportation to diner’s choice meal sites and shopping in Republic, Kettle Falls, Colville, Chewelah and Newport. Shopping Trips into Colville, Chewelah and Kettle Falls: We transport passengers from the communities listed below into Colville, Chewelah or Kettle Falls every two weeks for shopping, medical appointments or to visit friends and family. Passengers arrive in Colville by 10:30am and depart at 1:30pm. Passengers can make reservations up to two weeks in advance. Reservations should be made by the Monday prior to your desired travel date. We will try to accommodate late reservations when possible. Click on the route for scheduled days of service. Suncrest, Clayton, Loon Lake, Springdale, Valley, Chewelah, Addy, and Arden Metaline Falls, Metaline and Ione Northport, Evans, Marcus, Kettle Falls Fruitland, Hunters, Cedonia, Gifford, Daisy, Rice Republic, Malo, Curlew, Danville, Orient, Barstow, Boyds The Carpool Match Program Rural Resources’ Carpool Match Program offers financial incentives to participants in the program in order to encourage participation. With gas prices at record highs, more and more people are looking to trim transportation expenses by sharing rides to and from work and other routine destinations. Rural Resources' Carpool Match Program - for commuters in Ferry, Stevens and Pend Oreille Counties - helps you find a carpool arrangement that works just for you. Our program is flexible and free! Carpools may have a single driver or may share driving responsibilities. Expenses may or may not be shared. Carpools may operate every day or only when you need them. By joining a carpool, you can: - Reduce wear and tear on your vehicle
- Share the trip to create a less stressful commute
- Cut down on road congestion and pollution
- Help a rider keep a good job if he/she does not own a car
